Host Families
"This is my first time being a homestay hostess and I'm enjoying the experience very much. It has been a wonderful experience for my family. The boys have adjusted very well to being away from home. Over the last few months we've all grown to know each other. It brings me delight to know that they are enjoying their time with us. We've taken a few trips together to enrich their experience here in Canada. We've gone to Niagara Falls and Mont Tremblant. Now the boys are anticipating their first snow storm and hope to go skiing and snowboarding. I've been marketing this homestay experience to all of my friends, I think it's a wonderful experience! "
Homestay families open their doors and their hearts to international students and these international students make it all worthwhile."
"When our family hosted 2 girls from, Japan, we had no idea that it was going to be such a heartwarming and fun experience!!! We met at the Welcome Ceremony – the girls shy and hesitant – none of us sure of what this would be like. Our children were so excited to have them stay with us and we were all eager to share our life, home and city with them!
Their 6 day stay during Spring Break was full of activities, and we tried to cram in as much in as we could! The girls were so enthusiastic about everything – jumping on the trampoline, trying new food, sightseeing, going to the Hot Springs, showing us how to do Origami and preparing Japanese food for us!. During the Farewell Dinner, we were happily surprised at the amazing piano playing of one of our host girls and the beautiful singing of the students. We were deeply touched by the many tears of the students who had become quickly attached to their new host families!
Their visit and stay was such a gift to our family! We learned a lot about each other’s cultures, made a wonderful connection with them in a short amount of time and had a lot of laughter together! Our tears of sadness when we said goodbye was a testament to how close we had grown together. We will always think of them fondly with very happy memories."
