School year: 10 months - September - June

Canadian School Calendar

The majority of private Schools follow a full year school calendar with 3 terms and a cumulative exam in June. Students follow 8 subjects all year. The daily school schedule includes 4-5 periods of 60-80 minutes, with the weekly schedule alternating "days" on which classes are taken.
The majority of Canadian public and some private day schools follow a semestered school calendar, dividing the school year into 2 equal parts. Students follow 4 subjects each semester. Some schools and provinces, however, are experimenting with modified schedules such as year round or trimester schooling. The daily school schedule includes 4-5 periods of 60-85 minutes.

COURSES

Credit courses

Students earn from 1 - 5 credits for successful completion of each course. In order to receive transferable Canadian public school credit, students must complete an entire course, write the final exams and receive a passing grade. To receive a minimum of four credits, students must complete an entire semester.

Non credit courses

International students do not have to enroll for an entire semester. They may choose to participate in the regular classes for only a portion of a semester. If they choose not to complete an entire course or to write the final exam — they will not receive a credit.

Co-Validation

Co-validation is available where required.
